#GreenToGo is a campaign to celebrate the successful implementation of Freee Recycle Holding Limited’s pilot operation in Nigeria demonstrated by the rollout of its eco-friendly footwear & other products in UK and the commencement of its African Roll Out Plan. The campaign will include several events in Nigeria and UK with the main event being a presentation at the UK House Of Parliament on 22nd May 2024.
FREEE Recycle Holding is UK Based Holding Company focused on developing, operating and investing in Integrated Recycling and Manufacturing (IRMs) Companies in Africa. In 2020, we commenced the operations of the first facility in Nigeria as a pilot location.

Over the last four years we have created a viable and sustainable business model which addresses the waste management issues in Nigeria, while achieving commercial viability. We are proud to launch our brand, alongside our products from recycled Tyres in the UK to demonstrate the success of our pilot location and to commence our full African roll-out plan.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

  • Waste management problem in Africa stemming from a combination of rapid urbanization, inadequate waste management infrastructure, limited recycling initiatives, regulatory gaps, economic constraints, and lack of public awareness.

  • Africa has economic issues such as unemployment and limited access to capital

WHY NIGERIA?

  • Nigeria has a large population and rapidly growing automotive industry with the total Nigerian tyre market size estimated to be 5.7 million units (car, van & light truck – 3.9m and truck – 1.8m) with a projected growth rate of 3-5% annually.
  • Nigeria faces the challenge of disposing of over 11 million waste tyres annually, with inadequate waste management infrastructure and recycling facilities to handle such a large volume. Our company recognized this pressing need for effective waste tyre disposal, and in a bid to address these issues we developed an effective framework to curb this challenge.
  • Tyres have a long lifespan but eventually become waste products and as such there exists a growing concern for Improper disposal methods of waste tyres that results in environmental challenges.
  • Based on this the Company saw an opportunity to create environmental and social impact by addressing the waste tyre problem in Africa, starting with Nigeria.
  • These waste tyres eventually lead to the emission of toxic chemicals, provide breeding grounds for pests, and contributing to air pollution when burned.
  • Some of the problems also include; high unemployment rates (especially among women and youth), high mortality rates from malaria infection, impoverished communities and environmental pollutions, among major health concerns.
  • Based on this the Company saw an opportunity to create environmental and social impact by addressing the waste tyre problem in Africa, starting with Nigeria.
