Residency Programme

…The FREEE Art Residency Program

To kickstart FREEE Residency Programme, our maiden edition is the FREEE Art Residency Program.Theme: “Echoes of Reclamation: Rebuilding Heritage from Waste”This specialised residency will immerse talented young Nigerian artists in a profound exploration of their cultural identity. They will gain practical experience by working directly with reclaimed materials like rubber, fibre, and steel, transforming them into powerful artistic expressions that symbolically “recreate” lost Nigerian artefacts.
This not only honours our past but also champions a sustainable future. The success of this Art Residency will pave the way for a series of future FREEE Residency Programs, each dedicated to exploring new frontiers in sustainability, innovation, and community impact.

FREEE Residency Programme

The FREEE Residency Program is a bold, future-focused initiative dedicated to advancing sustainable development, community empowerment, and innovation across Nigeria and beyond. Conceptualized as a dynamic knowledge-exchange and experimentation platform that nurtures creative problem-solving, research, and practical action at the intersection of environmental sustainability and socio-economic development. Through short- to medium-term residencies, participants will be embedded within relevant communities, innovation hubs, and circular economy ecosystems to develop context-specific solutions that address real-world challenges.

Each residency cycle will feature a distinct theme, guided by pressing issues such as climate action, resource efficiency, green innovation, circular economy, and cultural continuity. Participants will benefit from access to technical expertise, mentorship, and facilities provided by FREEE and its partners, creating a vibrant environment for ideation, prototyping, and implementation.
